TECH-4-kOA -TECHNOLOGY-based GAIT RETRAINING FOR KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS: Computational modeling- and artificialintelligence-informed, real-life feedback on joint loading. KU Leuven
Osteoarthritis is the most common chronic joint disease, for which no proven prevention or cure exists that reverses or slows down the disease process. Aberrant joint loading accelerates OA progression. Gait-retraining, aiming to restore normal joint loading, therefore, has the potential to slow down OA progression. Previous gait retraining was based on indirect measures of knee joint loading, measured in a lab-based environment. Furthermore, ...
Retraining of traving dogs for the detection of COVID-19 human patients Ghent University
During the first outbreak of COVID-19 in Europe begin 2020, Prof. Dr. Dominique Grandjean from the faculty of veterinary medicine Maison Alfort but also colonel in the fire brigade, Paris, took the initiative to investigate if tracing dogs could made the difference between CPVID 19 – and + patients using sweat samples obtained from the inguinal and armpits regions (30 minutes of sampling). Since the virus is not excreted in sweat, this was ...
Motor retraining by real-time sonic feedback: understanding strategies of low impact running Ghent University
A new and interdisciplinary approach to motor
retraining using self-produced interactive sonic and musical feedback will be
developed. The underlying theory and methods will be tested in a study on self
induced running style alterations. In particular, we aim at showing that
impact severity, a biomechanical risk factor of running injuries, can be
lowered using interactive sonic and musical feedback.
