Gasification is a well-known technology able to convert any carbon-rich raw material into a producer gas containing mainly hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and methane, among others. Because of that, gasification has been revisited in the last decade as an option to avoid landfilling municipal solid waste (MSW) or even for recovering materials and energy from excavated MSW through the Enhanced Landfill Mining (ELFM) approach. However, the producer ...
In this research work, numerical modeling will be done of a complete plasma gasification process, using the test facility at the Institute of Plasma Physics in Prague for validation purposes.
The goal is to build a solid process control of the plasma gasification process. Besides enhancing the efficiency of the process, the work is also aimed at optimization of the reactor design.
The use of inductive programming for automated data wrangling and data science will be investigated in the ERC SYNTH project.
In this research soil quality in varying agro-ecosystems wil be assessed mainly through soil physical (soil structure) and biological (mainly mesofauna) properties. The impact of varying types of agricultural management on soil quality will be linked with differences in soil functions (yields, N mineralization, disease suppressiveness) to improve the sustainability of Cuban agriculture and to increase food security.
At the moment, food security of Cuban housholds is based on food produced bij large scale industrial farms and food imports. Increasing interest of policy makers and support in nos given to smaller scale productions, using less inputs, and hence contributing to a more sustainable agricultural system. This phd research will analyse thepotential of low scale farming to contribute to food security.
My dissertation focuses on the alternation between syndetic and asyndetic finite complement clauses in Spanish. Syndetic complements, introduced by an explicit complementizer que ‘that’, as in (1a), are the most frequent patterns of complementation in Present‑day Spanish. Alternatively, a complement clause can also be introduced asyndetically, i.e. without the complementizer que, as shown in (1b), where the absence of the complementizer is ...
This project will explore how prosody interacts with syntactic structure at different stages of an
ongoing syntactic change. Innovatively, it will do so using experimental methods, studying the
interaction of syntax and prosody.
One cross-linguistically common syntactic change is the renewal of the expression of sentential
negation (Jespersen's Cycle; JC), whereby an original negator (e.g. French 'ne') is first joined ...
