Project

An automated high-versatile proteomics platform for the KU Leuven Proteomics Core Facility.

The demand for proteomics technologies at the KU Leuven is high, yet the community currently faces a lack of appropriate equipment (more specific mass spectrometry) capable of dealing with the most versatile projects (ranging from routine (un)targeted proteomics screens, posttranslational modifications towards identification of immunoprecipitated proteins). In this proposal we aim to implement a bench-marked versatile instrument (evoSEP zenoTOF (AB Sciex)) capable of tackling the majority of proteomics demands in an un-precedented speed and amount of proteins identified.
In addition, we also aim to install automated sample preparation pipelines that can process cell lysates, tissues and body fluids in a robust and reproducible manner, opening the path towards highthroughput analyses for academic and clinical researchers. This automation will contribute positively towards the sample and data quality of the samples from KU Leuven researchers. Once installed, the platform will be immediately embedded in the proteomics core facility and used for services.
