Non-thermal plasma technology as innovative strategy for food preservation
This project intends to gather fundamental information on plasma-assisted food decontamination as alternative for heating processes. Focus will be on probing the nature and density of plasma species in different gas mixtures and the corresponding antimicrobial efficacy and chemical degradation of
food. Additionally, the potential of plasma-polymerized antimicrobial coatings for food packaging applications will also be explored.
