Project

Improving freshwater availability in the Luy River catchment (Vietnam)

In a previous project, we showed saltwater intrusion along the Luy River is global, making groundwater inappropriate for irrigation. A catchment-scale water management plan is thus needed to sustain agriculture. We identified a dune system as a possible groundwater resource if it is exploited in a sustainable way. We wish implement a sustainable irrigation water distribution plan by combining groundwater extraction with artificial infiltration of excess rain-water to sustain irrigation.
