Short coring Nicaraguan crater lakes for reconstructing earthquake history

Prehistoric earthquake (paleoseismic) records are crucial for accurate seismic hazard assessments. Nicaraguan crater lakes may serve as excellent archives of past seismic activity for specifically the densely populated city of Managua. This proposal intends to retrieve and analyze short sediment cores from seven selected lakes in order to explore their potential as paleoseismic archives.
