Sources from the Medieval Low Countries (SMLC) will enable medievalists to gain integrated access to two different online data collections: Diplomata Belgica, containing descriptions (and often full text and photographs) of all charters composed in the Southern Low Countries before 1250, and Narrative Sources, which offers a survey of all narrative sources written in the Low Countries before c. 1500.

Narrative Sources is an internationally acclaimed open-access repertory of narrative sources from the medieval Low Countries, developed at Ghent University. The New NaSo project ensures the long-term sustainability of this indispensable resource by upgrading its technology, updating its content, and expanding its scope across genres and historical periods.

The database Narrative Sources is an online inventory, published on the Internet in 1996, of the medieval narrative sources from the Low Countries (UGent, KULeuven, RUGroningen). This project aims at the development of a new software-system (database and website), including a number of new applications facilitating searches in function of the new needs in today's historical research.

This project deals with the gendered representation of the Flemish male and female rulers in the Flandria Generosa chronicles (1164-1531).
