Questioning the homogeneous morality of the comedias moralistas by J. Ruiz de Alarcón: a reconstruction of the moral heterogeneity of the Latin and Spanish hypotexts. Ghent University
This research project will question the moral homogeneity of Alarcón's comedies by contrasting this aspect with the heterogeneous morality of his carefully selected sources. Our main purpose consists in gaining a profound insight into the development and specificity of Alarcón's morality through a thorough examination of the Latin ans spanish hypotexts, based upon Genette's hypertextual model.
Ethical pragmatism: an investigation into the traditional Chinese morality within the complexity of present-day Chinese society Ghent University
The tradtional Chinese pragmatic ethics is dominated by Confucianism. This project is an investigation into the way in which this ethical pragmatism is concretised in the present-day Chinese society. Focus of this research is the so-called "hutuxue", the "study how to pretend not to know", a very popular form of pragmatism in present-day China.
A philosophy of mind perspective on mindreading and morality Ghent University
I investigate the specific role that mindreading plays in our moral cognition. To what extent do individual differences in mindreading influence our moral cognition (first objective)? To what extent do mindreading deficits contribute to moral deficits (second objective)? I will address potential shortcomings in the current philosophy of mind debate on mindreading and morality (third objective).
