Self-regulation in Khat Use: Ethnographic Study in Ethiopia Ghent University
The study focuses on self-regulation in khat use in Ethiopia. It uses a qualitative, community-based ethnographic approach to understand khat users’ definitions and reasons for controlled/uncontrolled use and harm reduction techniques they employ to prevent or minimize the negative effects of chewing. The study also looks into the perspectives of khat chewers and other stakeholders on khat regulation.
Inflammation, self-regulation and weight loss resistance in children and adolescents with obesity Ghent University
Current project will study the role of inflammation in obese adolescents by evaluating: how inflammation affects maladaptive eating via self-regulation, whether maladaptive eating leads to weight gain and increases of inflammation and psychosocial stress, and whether this stress moderates the relationship between self-regulation and maladaptive eating. Self-regulation in ADHD: learning from errors. Ghent University
The proposed project aims at gaining more insight in the error monitoring deficit in ADHD, by filling the gaps in the current research literature. Firstly, we will investigate whether this deficit persists into adulthood. Secondly, the heterogeneity of ADHD will be taken into account. Lastly, we will examine the relationship between this dificit and daily functioning.
