The Father-Son Relationship in the Eighth Sibylline Oracle

In the form it is preserved, Or. Sib. 8 is a Christian composition, though with considerable Jewish elements. This short paper investigates the ways in which the relationship between the Father and the Son is articulated in this book. It will be argued that, despite claims in recent scholarship, the Son is portrayed separately from the Father, having his own distinct identity, and that this Christology is closely linked to Old and New Testament material.
