Self-reported medicinal cannabis use in Flanders : a study of user profiles and patterns of use
Boek - Dissertatie
Korte inhoud:Medicinal cannabis use has so far received very little attention in scientific research in Belgium. While the knowledge about the medicinal effects of cannabis continues to increase, information about the patterns of medicinal cannabis use and about the profiles of self-identified medicinal cannabis users remains scarce. Using an interdisciplinary approach at the interface of criminology and medicine, this doctoral dissertation aims to explore and understand the profiles, attitudes and experiences of those ‘labelling’ themselves as medicinal cannabis users. Specific attention is paid to understanding the vague boundaries between medicinal and recreational cannabis use. In order to attain this objective a mixed-methods approach is used in this study. The quantitative part consists of an online survey and the qualitative part of in-depth interviews conducted with self-labelled medicinal cannabis users in Flanders (Belgium).
