Normalisation des contours intonatifs et étude de la variation régionale en français

Tijdschriftbijdrage - Tijdschriftartikel

This paper describes a novel approach to pitch contour normalization, relative to the observed pitch range of the speaker, and applies it to the study of regional variation of intonation contours in French. In a corpus of 12 French speakers from Belgium (Brussels and Liège), normalized pitch values and pitch intervals are obtained for the three last syllables (“clausules”) of intonation groups. For the identification of regional variants, a perceptual approach is used, in which the criterion for classifying speech productions is not the geographic origin of the speaker, but rather the judgment by experts about the markedness of particular intonation groups or syllables.
