Het onderzoek is typisch multidisciplinair. Nationale en internationale samenwerking wordt sterk aangemoedigd. De lopende programma's bestrijken een breed gebied, met inbegrip van sociale, economische, psychologische, cognitieve, functionele, bio-medische en geriatrische onderzoeken. Gerontologische behoeften in ontwikkelingslanden vormen ook een actieve onderzoeksonderwerp."
