Data from: The common ground in landscape effects on gene flow in two newt species in an agroecosystem Instituut voor Natuur- en Bosonderzoek
Disentangling the interrelated abiotic and biotic pathways linking landscape composition and crop production Instituut voor Landbouw-, Visserij- en Voedingsonderzoek
Landscape composition and its related functional agrobiodiversity (FAB) was severely simplified during the last decades. As landscape composition is expected to influence the interrelated microclimate and arthropod community at different scales, this simplification might have led to a decline in multiple agro-ecosystem services, with potential impacts for the growth of crops with different demands from the environment. To study landscape-scale effects on multi-crop yield and herbivory in combination with its potential drivers, including functional arthropod community and microclimate, we used ...
Floral resources in the surrounding landscape matrix augment plant species richness of bumblebee pollen loads in small, fragmented calcareous grasslands KU Leuven
Pollinator populations have shown substantial declines worldwide due to habitat loss and fragmentation, with bees experiencing particularly sharp reductions in both species richness and abundance. While local management measures in semi-natural grasslands and agri-environmental schemes (AES) intend to improve farmland biodiversity, the extent to which these measures affect foraging behavior and pollen resource use of bees in fragmented landscapes remains poorly understood. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that landscape and grassland management affected floral resource use of two ...

The fishing cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) is a medium-sized wetland specialist threatened felid with a limited knowledge base on behavior and ecology. We carried out a comprehensive analysis of its diet within a human-dominated landscape in southern Nepal, analyzing scat samples through microscopic analysis and DNA metabarcoding. The microscopic analysis revealed that mammals, primarily rodents, constituted the largest proportion of fishing cat diet (61.73% frequency of occurrence (FO)) followed by birds (43.21% FO) fish (24.69% FO), and reptiles (19.75% FO). However, DNA metabarcoding ...

The data in this deposit were collected as part of the B@SEBALL project (Biodiversity at School Environments - Benefits for All). The project investigated how biodiversity in the school environment can positively affect children’s health and mental well-being. B@SEBALL also investigated the opportunities for reducing health inequalities among children via biodiversity at school environments. The data are organized according to the Frictionless Data Package standard. All child-level and school-level data have been anonymized. Each data package is a collection of csv files and a ...
