Spatial datasets of 2 North Sea wind farm layouts used for the COSMO-CLM simulations of the FREEWIND project. WF24: the operational layout in Q2 2024. WF30: a projected layout for 2030 based on the Ostend declaration formulated in 2023. The layouts are available as: - Original vector files (ESRI shapefiles) - NetCDF files on longitude-latitude grid at the model resolution (~2.8km). This dataset contains virtual flight data collected from individual systems in airborne wind energy parks obtained by means of large-eddy simulations. All data are stored as Python dictionary objects in the Pickle format. Additional Python scripts are provided to visualize the data.

The present datasets contain time-resolved three-dimensional wind field data computed by means of large-eddy simulations. The atmospheric boundary layer is modelled as pressure driven boundary layer (PDBL) and the computations are performed using the software SPWind developed at KU Leuven. Wind field data is provided for three different roughness classes corresponding to offshore and onshore conditions.
