The atmospheric chemistry of the warm Neptune GJ 3470b: Influence of metallicity and temperature on the CH4/CO ratio KU Leuven
Context. Current observation techniques are able to probe the atmosphere of some giant exoplanets and get some clues about their atmospheric composition. However, the chemical compositions derived from observations are not fully understood. For instance, the CH4/CO abundance ratio is often inferred to be different from the value that has been predicted by chemical models. Recently, the warm Neptune GJ 3470b has been discovered, and because of ...
Identification of the biologically active liquid chemistry induced by a nonthermal atmospheric pressure plasma jet Universiteit Antwerpen
The mechanism of interaction of cold nonequilibrium plasma jets with mammalian cells in physiologic liquid is reported. The major biological active species produced by an argon RF plasma jet responsible for cell viability reduction are analyzed by experimental results obtained through physical, biological, and chemical diagnostics. This is complemented with chemical kinetics modeling of the plasma source to assess the dominant reactive gas phase ...
Description of the plasma chemistry in an atmospheric pressure CH4 dielectric barrier discharge using a two dimensional fluid model Universiteit Antwerpen
Corrigendum to “Impact of declining atmospheric deposition on forest soil solution chemistry in Flanders, Belgium.” [Atmos. Environ. 62C (2012) 50–63] Instituut voor Natuur- en Bosonderzoek
Numerical analysis of the effect of nitrogen and oxygen admixtures on the chemistry of an argon plasma jet operating at atmospheric pressure Universiteit Antwerpen
In this paper we study the cold atmospheric pressure plasma jet, called kinpen, operating in Ar with different admixture fractions up to 1% pure , and + . Moreover, the device is operating with a gas curtain of dry air. The absolute net production rates of the biologically active ozone () and nitrogen dioxide () species are measured in the far effluent by quantum cascade laser absorption spectroscopy in the mid-infrared. Additionally, a ...
Impact of declining atmospheric deposition on forest soil solution chemistry in Flanders, Belgium Instituut voor Natuur- en Bosonderzoek
Throughout Europe and the USA, forest ecosystem functioning has been impacted by long-term excessive deposition of acidifying compounds. In this study, we report on trends in stand deposition and soil solution fluxes of inorganic nitrogen (N) and sulphur (S) compounds over a 17-year period (1994e2010) in five ICP Forests monitoring plots in Flanders, northern Belgium. Deposition was dominated by N, and primarily NH4 þ. Deposition of SO4 2 and ...
